Cricklade Manor Prep is a strongly performing school that supports and challenges children to achieve their potential.
With a broad and exciting curriculum, strength in the core subjects, countless extra-curricular opportunities, and excellent facilities, we are a supportive and welcoming community of children, staff and parents.
Individual attention in small classes
Our class sizes are small, and we have no combined age groups, which allows teachers to give every child the support he or she needs, with no danger of anyone slipping under the radar in a busy classroom. This focus on each and every child extends into the Individual Learning Sessions which are built into the school week. In these, pupils have the option to receive a bit of extra support where needed, to spend more time on topics they love, or to try out something entirely new.
The same attention is brought to children’s emotional and mental wellbeing. Happy children are better learners, so there is plenty of time for imaginative play, sport, confidence building and friendships. Risk taking and learning to fail form a key part of learning from an early age, ensuring that our older children take on challenges with a healthy combination of positivity and resilience.
Specialist teaching staff
An outstanding team of teaching staff is Cricklade Prep’s greatest asset, chosen and developed to provide the best possible learning opportunities for our children. Each member of staff is highly experienced, and many have subject specialisms, so that even our youngest pupils learn from experts in their field. Both staff and pupils work within a curriculum that is broad and flexible, allowing for high quality education in the core academic subjects, and the opportunity to really extend learning into areas as diverse as Lego robotics, entrepreneurship and outer space.
The facilities at Cricklade Manor Prep are exceptional for a school of its size. We have fully equipped science laboratories, a large sports hall and a swimming pool on site, as well as 8 acres of outdoor space, encompassing sports fields, play areas and an exciting forest school. All of these are used to their full potential by teaching staff who are really enthusiastic about their subjects. Find out more about Cricklade Manor Prep Facilities
Providing opportunities, within and beyond the curriculum, allows every child to discover whatever it is that will motivate and inspire them, and fires the desire to learn more. So beyond the core curriculum, we seek ways to expand experience and learning: from school trips and entrepreneurship and environmental programmes, to participating in Young Voices at the O2, to the yearly Science Spectacular, school productions and positions of responsibility, and dynamic after-school clubs.
We have outstanding science, art and music departments, bringing very high quality provision in each of these. Sport is a particular strength, and given plenty of time int he curriculum. Children take part in weekly competitive matches in a wide range of sports from Year 3. The school also hosts Cricklade Cricket Club, and Cricklade Rugby Club’s summer training. Fencing is available as an after-school club, and our fencers compete regularly at regional and national competitions, and even internationally at the world’s biggest youth Fencing competition in Poland.
The outcomes our children achieve speak for themselves. This year, many children gained places at grammar schools, including two to the highly competitive Pates school in Cheltenham. All children applying for independent senior school secured places.
We are incredibly proud of all our children achieve, academically, on the sports field and in the visual and performing arts, all of which has been recognised by future schools. Cheerful, resilient, creative and innovative, at Cricklade Manor they have also learned a set of skills that will support and nourish them as they move on to the next stage in their education.
