Reception Stay and Play: A Morning of Fun and Learning for our September 2025 starters!
Cricklade Manor Prep opened its doors to welcome preschool children and their families for our special Reception Stay and Play event. Designed to help children transition smoothly into school life, this event was a fantastic opportunity for little learners (and their parents!) to experience a slice of the excitement that starting school brings.
With September 2025 on the horizon, we know how important it is for children to feel confident and happy as they begin their school journey. The Stay and Play event is just one of the ways we ensure every child feels at home from day one—and judging by all the smiles, it was a great success!
The morning kicked off with an energetic specialist sports lesson in our sports hall, led by two of our subject specialist teachers, Mrs. Davies and Miss Rock. Reception children at Cricklade Manor Prep are lucky enough to enjoy subject-specialist lessons from the start, and the Stay and Play was the perfect chance for our young visitors to get a taste of this. From balancing to bouncing, running to rolling, it was a joy to see the children getting stuck in, cheering each other on, and having so much fun.
Next, it was time to explore the magical world of the Reception classroom with Mrs O’Dell, the Reception teacher, and her Learning Support Assistant, Miss Blanford. Here, the children joined a cosy literacy circle time, that sparked their imaginations. They also had free rein to dive into the exciting activities the classroom has to offer. From dressing up in costumes in imaginative play, experimenting with hands-on learning stations, and even getting messy while exploring numbers and nature, there was never a dull moment.
Parents loved seeing their children’s eyes light up as they discovered all the engaging and creative ways we encourage learning through play. It was a wonderful chance for families to meet the staff and start building connections that will continue as their children join the Cricklade Manor Prep community.
As the morning drew to a close, it was time for a cheerful farewell with promises of
“See you in September!”
The smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm we saw throughout the day reminded us why we do what we do—to make the start of school a truly happy and exciting chapter for every child.
We’re already looking forward to welcoming this bright and eager group of learners to Reception in September 2025. Thank you to everyone who came along and made the event so special—we can’t wait for the adventures ahead!
