Stronger Together: Connecting Schools Through Sport

At Cricklade Manor Prep, we believe in the power of sport not just to build fitness, but to build friendships, confidence, and community. This belief was brought to life recently when we welcomed Year 5 and 6 pupils from our sister school, Rupert House in Henley, and our local neighbouring primary school in Cricklade, St Sampson’s, to an exciting inter-school athletics competition held right here at the school.
The event was a celebration of healthy competition, teamwork, and shared opportunity. It featured a full programme of athletic disciplines—from sprints and long jump to relay races. Every race and jump was met with cheers from all three schools, showing the true spirit of teamwork that sport can bring.

Support for the event came from all directions. Dedicated sports staff from each of the schools ensured the event ran smoothly, and we were also joined by Mrs Barton, Head of Year 7 at Cirencester Kingshill School, along with a team of her Y12 Sports Leaders. Their leadership and encouragement played a huge part in creating a positive atmosphere that both inspired and reassured our young athletes.
Events like this are more than just competitions—they’re an opportunity for pupils to meet new faces, form new friendships, and feel part of something bigger. Bringing together pupils from St Sampson’s and Rupert House allows us to foster a sense of unity between local and sister schools, helping children to develop not only their athletic abilities but also their social confidence and sense of belonging.
A special congratulations goes to St Sampson’s, who were crowned overall winners of the meet—a well-earned result for a fantastic performance.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who made this event possible and look forward to many more opportunities to bring our schools together, both on and off the field. Here’s to the spirit of healthy competition—and to the friendships that grow from it.
