THE CRICKLADE AWARD: Embracing opportunities, enriching knowledge and enhancing skills for life

Cricklade Manor Prep is committed to equipping pupils with the skills to tackle challenges, motivate learners and prepare children for the future. This is why CMP have created their inspirational Cricklade Award, a specifically tailored programme to provide enriching experiences and invaluable life skills to our Year 6 children.

The programme opens doors to a wide range of opportunities that extend far beyond traditional education. It is designed to instil a sense of curiosity, resilience, and creativity in our students, preparing them not just for academic challenges but for the journey in life that lies ahead of them.

Hear a few words from our Cricklade Award Leader – Mr Davies:

“The Cricklade Award is designed to enrich our Year 6 pupils’ education outside of the classroom and prepare them for the next stage of their lives at Senior school. At Cricklade Manor, we pride ourselves on giving pupils opportunities to challenge themselves and through The Cricklade Award we can achieve this. We have many talented teachers who run sessions based on their expertise, whilst also using local businesses to run external activities”.

Comments and feedback from our parents:

“Cricklade Award takes learning beyond the classroom and enables the children to develop skills that can’t be learnt in the warm, secure and familiar environment of the classroom.  The children have been CHALLENGED to work as a team to provide shelter to keep them warm and dry at night.  They have learned how to build a raft, paddle and sail on the water as well as developed life skills in preparing food and cooking as well as photography, supporting them in this increasingly digital world that is reliant on visual images and social media.  The children have MOTIVATED themselves and those around them to follow maps, complete courses and climb high ropes courses. They have been PREPARED to give time and effort to support the elderly members of our community, writing letters to make someone else’s Christmas better!

Thank you to Mr D and all the staff who have helped make this possible and given all our children the best possible final year at Primary / Prep School.  Well done CMP”.  – Current Year 6 Parent

“The Cricklade Award has allowed our daughter to try a wide variety of experiences outside the classroom. Taking her out of her comfort zone to try new challenges and pushing herself, gives her confidence to try new things in the future. With The Cricklade Award, there is something for everyone and it can be adapted for all abilities.

Our daughter has been looking forward to taking part in The Cricklade Award since our son left the School 3 years ago! It’s a key part of the Year 6 rites of passage!” – Current Year 6 Parent

“My daughter has enjoyed The Cricklade Award this term. She has learnt new skills and enjoyed taking part with her friends.

I think the mince pie treat boxes are an especially fantastic task, where they are developing their cooking skills, writing poems for Christmas cards they have designed and delivering them to people in the community. This is a powerful Activity which has a very caring message. The children this morning were so excited to be doing this and their mindset was of such positivity, that they couldn’t wait to knock on people’s doors and give them their gifts and wish them a happy Christmas!

Mr Davies has compiled a very extensive and thoughtful programme of events for the children throughout the year and delivers each activity with passion and commitment.

Friday afternoons are something to look forward to each week!” – Current CMP Parent
