EMBRACING TECHNOLOGY: Cricklade Manor Prep Investing in the Future

In a world that is constantly evolving, education too must adapt to meet the changing needs of our children. As we step into a new academic year, we are thrilled to introduce an exciting and innovative initiative that promises to revolutionise the way our children learn – the integration of modern technology into the classroom. This year marks the first year of rolling out 1-to-1 Surface Go devices for Year 4 pupils in the classroom, and we couldn’t be more excited about the benefits it holds for our young learners.

As well as our 1-to-1 device scheme, we have also invested in a class set of Surface Go devices for use by all classes across the curriculum. Without the need for desktop computer stations, we have used this opportunity to revamp our Computer Lab to become ‘The Studio’. This will become a diverse space used for collaborative task across the school. With a flexible room layout, it will allow pupils to work in a myriad of different ways, from using green screen for recording videos, to debating and working collaboratively on large group projects. This will be a space to enthuse and inspire our learners.

Access to a Vast World of Information: The internet is a treasure trove of knowledge, and modern technology enables pupils to access it with ease. They can delve deep into subjects, conduct research, and explore a universe of information, fostering curiosity and critical thinking.

Collaboration and Communication: Today’s world demands effective communication and collaboration skills. Through digital tools, pupils can collaborate on projects, share ideas, and engage with peers. These skills are invaluable in preparing them for future careers and life in a global society.

Creativity: By offering access to a diverse range of digital tools, from multimedia software to interactive educational apps, pupils can explore and express their ideas in innovative ways.

Cross Curricular: Technology enhances engagement and motivation by making learning interactive and fun. It provides access to a vast array of educational resources and information, expanding pupils’ horizons and fostering independent research skills.

Real-World Skills: Learning to navigate modern technology prepares pupils for the workforce of tomorrow. Familiarity with digital tools, software, and problem-solving in a tech-rich environment equips them with skills that are highly relevant in today’s job market.

Personalised Learning: One size does not fit all in education, and modern technology allows us to tailor learning experiences to each child’s unique needs. With adaptive software and interactive platforms, pupils can progress at their own pace, ensuring that no one is left behind or held back.

Digital Citizenship: Teaching children to use technology responsibly, ethically, and safely is an essential life skill. Incorporating technology into the classroom provides a controlled environment for pupils to learn about digital etiquette, online safety, and ethical behaviour.

Incorporating modern technology into the classroom is not about replacing traditional teaching methods; it’s about enhancing them. Our goal is to empower our pupils with the skills, knowledge, and mindset they need to thrive in the digital age and become lifelong learners.

Through our curriculum, we wish to challenge our learners to become inspired creators of content using critical thinking skills to produce high quality work; motivate children’s learning by offering access to up to date engaging tasks and topics and prepare pupils with 21st Century Skills in school and beyond the school gates.

As we embark on this exciting journey together, we invite parents and pupils to embrace this new era of education with enthusiasm. Together, we’ll create a brighter, more dynamic future for our children—one where technology and learning go hand in hand, unlocking endless possibilities for growth and discovery. Equipping pupils with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the 21st century.
