Year 2 cry with delight as the Queen arrives at Windsor Castle!

Year 2 enjoyed an amazing day at Windsor Castle. There were cries of delight when we saw the Royal Standard flying on the round tower and realised the Queen was in residence. Was this due
To a new great grandchild being born on Monday, or the Windsor Horse Trials? The changing of the guard is always spectacular and we witnessed the bands and pipes entering the castle followed by the cutest little pony, mascot.

As we walked round Using our I Spy trail we located arrow slit windows, cannons, soldiers and had a fascinating look around St George’s Chapel. Our workshop in the State Apartments taught us so much about The Queen and her many jobs, as the children enjoyed dressing up. Amelie was a very regal queen inspecting the troops, Elvira was equally elegant conducting a dubbing ceremony on ‘Sir Drew’.

The most colourful part of our session was the Coronation with the spectacular state
Imperial crown, orb and sceptre. Sadly copies, not the originals...... A further highlight were the excellent goodie bag souvenirs which kept all entertained on the journey home. Year 2 all agreed it was the ‘best trip ever!’.
