Sabre fencing is going from strength to strength as we achieved our highest number of qualifiers in this discipline for the British National Youth Championships held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield over the Bank Holiday weekend. Over 1500 children participated at this event and all of our pupils fenced in the U12 age group with one student picking up an excellent 3 wins from 5 in his poule round against strong competition, and eventually finishing 21st. He also also qualified in Boys Epee, finishing 40th and is the first pupil at the school to qualify in two weapons. Two of our female competitiors were fighting a year early in this age group and never gave up, scoring hits against older and more experienced competition. They pulled off a win with one of them completing a 10-3 demolition job in her direct elimination fight to finish 28th and 32nd respectively. Well done everyone.
